Tarascon Castle
Tarascon castle
The Château de Tarascon is located, as its name suggests, in the town of Tarascon, in the Bouches-du-Rhône département (13), and can be reached easily in an hour’s drive from Camping le Mas de Nicolas, in Saint-Rémy de Provence.
It’s an exceptionally well-preserved monument. It’s one of the most beautiful medieval castles in France and Europe.
This castle belonged to King René de Tarascon, and was built in the early 15th century on a 45-meter-high rock by the Princes of Anjou, based on the architectural model of the Bastille.
A visit to the Château de Tarascon includes a variety of exhibitions, a bookshop and a store.
