City of Fontaine de Vaucluse
A village in the heart of the Monts de Vaucluse
The wonderful little town of Fontaine de Vaucluse is located in the Vaucluse department (84), east of Gordes and about 30 minutes from Mas de Nicolas in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence. This pretty town, known for its picturesque setting and above all for being the source of the Sorgue river. It’s surrounded by spectacular cliffs and an emerald-colored river.
Fontaine de Vaucluse offers a wide range of cultural activities, including the Santon museum, François Pétrarque library, château des évêques and Jean Garcin history museum. You can also admire the Fontaine de Vaucluse chasm, explored by the famous Captain Cousteau in 1955. From Fontaine de Vaucluse, you can canoe down the Sorgue and take advantage of the various free hiking trails.
